Liberty, MO (June 5, 2014) – Sam’s Club and General Mills have announced that they will host a Member Appreciation event at the new Liberty Sam’s Club on Thursday, June 26 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.  As part of the day’s celebration, Kansas City Royals’ Legendary Second Baseman Frank White will meet with fans and sign free autographs at the Liberty Sam’s Club (8130 N. Church Road).

White was an integral part of the Royals’ 1985 World Series Championship team. In addition, he won eight American League Gold Gloves, was named to five All-Star games, was awarded a Silver Slugger award in 1986 and was the MVP of the American League Championship series in 1980. He ranks among the Royals’ Top 5 all-time leaders in games, at-bats, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, stolen bases, total bases and extra-base hits. Following his 18 year career, all with the Royals, the team retired his jersey number “20” and a bronze statue of his likeness now stands outside of the team’s stadium.

“We encourage fans to join us for a fun and exciting day,” said Buddy “BJ” McAllister, Club manager of the Liberty location. “This event is our way of thanking the community for their patronage of our numerous clubs in the area. We are excited and look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of Liberty and surrounding communities, as we welcome Royals’ legend Frank White to our new location.”

Sam’s Club will officially open its newest location in Liberty on Thursday, June 26.

Sam’s Club members and guests are welcomed and encouraged to visit the Liberty location at any time throughout the day.  Autographs are limited to one per person and are only guaranteed for the first 120 people in line, but he will sign more if time allows.
